Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. has an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineer in our San Jose, CA; Centennial, CO; or Huntersville, NC office.

The ideal candidate will possess a background in engineering and software programming and be responsible for engineering consulting work supporting the energy industry. The role will be to support project teams in the areas of fracture mechanics, probabilistic fracture mechanics and related fields.

The work environment is a dynamic team based on project requirements. Each project team is usually led by an industry expert and composed of engineers from various engineering disciplines such as fracture mechanics, stress analysis, structural dynamics, and material science.

Primary Responsibilities:

Analysis of power plant structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment and other power plant components using both classical and numerical methods
Fracture mechanics and stress analyses using the guidelines in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
Crack stress intensity factor calculations using closed form solutions and finite element analysis
Crack acceptability, crack growth, and allowable crack size determinations
Leak-before-break evaluations using elastic-plastic fracture mechanics methodologies
Participation in design and repair projects of pressure vessel/piping components
Maintain, upgrade, or develop in-house fracture mechanic software
Required Skills/Qualifications:

MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
3-5 years of experience
Linear-elastic and elastic-plastic fracture mechanics course work
Proficient in a programming language, preferably in .NET
Proficient in writing technical reports and communication skills

Experience in ASME Code, Section XI a plus
Knowledge in probability and statistics a plus
Understanding of finite element analysis (FEA)
Knowledge of Visual Basics programming preferred
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) / Engineer in Training (EIT) exam preferred; Professional Engineering (PE) License a plus
