Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to effectively manage the entire estimating department, hold them accountable for their respective assignments, promote an environment that fosters teamwork and maximizes learning opportunities for all individuals participating in the estimating process. Actively monitors workload and productivity of estimators (i.e. provides effective management and oversight). Able to review the work product, including pricing, of other estimating team members for incorporation into final estimates.
Prepares conceptual budgets based on minimal information, must demonstrate acute ability as conceptual estimator with the ability to perform conceptual estimates with limited design maturity quickly.
Policies & Procedures - Sets standards for deliverables such as bid packages, deliverable formats and budget tracking tools.
Oversee analysis of past and current performance on projects to establish standards for all future estimates to create a proprietary historical cost database.
Manages and coordinates the people (both in-house and consultants), software and other resources used to perform the estimating functions. Projects range from loosely defined concepts to fully defined bid documents.
Provide oversight and assistance to project teams for budget tracking, cost analysis, forecasting and change order preparation.
Maintains and communicates data on construction and material cost trends and escalation affecting project costs.
Establishes reasonable contingency recommendations for each project based upon appropriate level of design information, site conditions, schedule conditions and overall risk assessment.
Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information & pricing as needed to establish realistic estimates.
Prepares instructions to bidders, bid form and other bid solicitation information as required.
Performs and/or manages the quantity survey and pricing effort for internal budgets.
Reviews general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits as prepared by contractors to ensure pricing accuracy.
Reviews and/or manages the review and scoping of specialty contractor bids.
Reviews constructability issues with project management staff.
Analyze alternate means and methods to determine the most economic cost scenarios.
Actively participates in industry relations to enhance company image.
Participate in periodic reviews and visits projects as appropriate.
Ability to multitask - coordinates and manages multiple projects and teams simultaneously. Set project milestones and manage internal resources to meet required deadlines.
Foster a culture of excellence and positive attitude within the Estimating Department. Mentor and develop subordinate team members, provide constructive feedback and challenging assignments.
Ability to accommodate varied work hour requirements and locations as necessary.
Performs other related duties as needed.

Ability to work in a team environment.
Experience in multiple contract delivery methods including GMP, Lump Sum, Cost Plus and others. Able to comprehend the intricacies of project needs and make appropriate recommendations of delivery methods.
Proficient in computer software programs used in estimating.
Possess strong mathematical and computer skills.
Ability to breakdown construction operations into a logical sequence of activities.
Ability to professionally communicate the basis for individual work product when under pressure of multiple demands.
Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Must be willing to travel.
Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, good attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Administration, Engineering or equivalent related work experience.
Minimum of 10 or more years estimating experience.
Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
