Job Title: Chief Estimator
Job Description:

The Chief Estimator duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Prepares material take offs and reviews take offs of others from planning documents or engineering drawings.

Prepares conceptual and comparative cost study estimates from preliminary sketches.

Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.

Prepares estimates by applying unit rates for man hours, labor $, material $, and construction equipment $ and all-in unit cost determination, calculating extensions and the application of standard factors, overhead rates and fees.

Accumulates, evaluates and documents historical cost data for the development of future estimates.

Prepares and / or reviews final Engineer's estimate. Reviews contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes.

Provides coordination and liaison with project management and project engineering personnel throughout the estimate development.

Trains subordinate estimating personnel when necessary.

Additional Requirements

Ability work with other.

Skilled in the use of Excel, and Word.

Familiar with Uniformat ll.

Familiar with industry estimating databases and other estimating data sources, e.g. RS Means, Richardsons, National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), etc.

Capability to assume additional responsibilities.

Proven accuracy, reliability and completeness in job accomplishment.

Demonstrated success on the job, as evidenced by satisfactory performance, acceptance of responsibility and growth in previous position.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Job Qualifications:
Bachelor degree within an engineering discipline preferred.

Ten years of general estimating experience directly related to both engineering and construction activities is required.

Heavy estimating experience in Civil, Architectural, and Structural is required.

Strong experience with MC2 Estimating Software is highly desirable.

Strong experience with Microsoft Office is highly desirable.

Airport experience is VERY HIGHLY DESIRABLE.
