GMA Architects has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Architect/Director of Design & Operations to manage the Chicago based GMA team! The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years experience working in a design/build environment on commercial construction projects. This is an opportunity to work in a fast paced atmosphere and be involved in all phases of the design process for our design/build commercial projects.



Partnered with ARCO/Murray National Construction Company, GMA Architects is a full service design and construction firm. Our design team provides architectural services including Creative Design, Project Management, ADA/Code Compliance, Building Assessment and Reuse, Addition and Renovations, Historic Preservation, Master Planning, Interior Design, Space Planning and Construction Administration.



Responsibilities



Responsible for generating new opportunities for GMA through internal and external client meetings.
Produce schematic designs for new projects (by hand, CAD, and 3D) requiring an understanding of site layouts for commercial projects, interior layouts for offices, and building elevation design for multiple material types in order to increase the firms level of service for our clients.
Generate plans and images for presentation and pricing as needed by our internal construction client.
Draft construction projects in CAD and Revit for own projects as well as assisting as needed to support other design associates.
Schedule resources and assign projects to design team based on workload, timing, complexity, and individual skill set.
Respond to building code and construction detailing questions for GMA team as well as our internal construction client, AMNCC.
Perform general construction administrative duties for projects including review of shop drawings, production, and coordination of sketches for the field.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge



Bachelors degree in Architecture
Must be a licensed architect.
NCARB certification preferred.
8-10 years experience ideally working in design/build environment on commercial construction projects.
Site design/space planning experience.
Proficient in Autocad and Revit. Standard office software (Photoshop, Word, etc.) preferred.
Ability to develop presentation drawings (colored site plan and elevations) 3D modeling and rendering.
Ability to develop preliminary designs into construction documents.
Ability to comprehend owner concepts from high level and/or economical view points and provide value engineering.
