The Director, Electric Maintenance and Construction Operations positionwill afford better coordination and centralize accountability for the existing safety, compliance, technical training and quality control efforts currently in place. The director will work with the regional directors and general construction director to collectively ensure that policies and standards are met for safety, compliance and quality control in the 2200 person organization of Electric Maintenance and Construction. He/she will create and direct change efforts to address the issues that emerge from audit findings. The director will examine root causes for misses in safety process and standards and track how the department is meeting operational compliance requirements. He/she will partner closely with Electric Maintenance and Construction management/supervisors to direct initiatives, develop programs and implement tools that improve safety results, drive compliance with regulatory requirements, and support productivity improvement. Reporting Relationship This position reports directly to the Vice President, Electric Maintenance and Construction and will lead a team of approximately 15 employees. Responsibilities: * Create and drive change efforts as indicated by safety performance audits. Partner closely with managers and supervisors in the field organization to effectively implement programs and tools.* Analyze and assess high risk areas and compliance gaps for safety that are specific to Electric Maintenance and Construction. Create and recommend solutions to improve the department\'s safety performance.* Ensure proper alignment with the training organization around training prioritization, curriculum, and standardization to drive effectiveness. Ensure that skills and programs are developed correctly and refreshed/maintained throughout the employee\'s years of service.* Track and ensure that corrective maintenance activities meet regulatory requirements. Qualifications Minimum:* Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in safety, quality control, or other relevant electric utility operations, or commensurate experience.* Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent professional experience.Desired:* Experience in working with both Union and management employees.* Demonstrated experience in working in a matrixed environment.Pacific Gas and Electric Company is an AA/EEO employer that actively pursues and hires a diverse workforce.
