Regional Safety Manager, Nuclear Maintenance Division - Managed project and program responsibilities for multiple nuclear and non-nuclear power utility construction/maintenance projects throughout the United States.  Major project highlights include:


       Development / implementation of comprehensive environmental air monitoring plan, startup/staffing/support of construction activities for a Combined Cycle Power Plant in Queens, New York (Keyspan);


       Oversight of decommissioning activities for Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station and Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Station



       Management of construction and outage activities for four Entergy Northeast nuclear plants.  Conducted new contract start-up and transition activities; project mobilization and site plan development; hiring and oversight of outage staff; incident investigations; project audits; injury case management; and client interface.


       Managed new contract start-up and transition activities for the Exelon system nuclear projects (10 project locations) including fleet-wide procedure development and conversion.


       Managed new contract start-up and transition activities for South Texas Project (STP) nuclear site in Bay City, TX including site safety plan development; safety staff mobilization; client interface; injury case management; support and execution of first refueling outage.


       Provided industrial hygiene consulting services.


       Management of the development and construction of a $250,000 dynamic safety learning center for the TVA Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Athens, AL.


       Provided staffing and outage support to TVA nuclear plant maintenance contracts at three plant locations.  Supported staff hiring, site mobilization, site inspection, incident investigation, and client interface.


Site Safety Manager, Charlestown Navy Yard Project, USACE - Responsible for providing part-time management of all Safety and Health activities during remediation activities for a USACE Remediation Project.  Conducted site inspections, incident investigations, training, air monitoring, recordkeeping, medical surveillance, respiratory protection, and fit testing.  Directly interfaced with the Army Corp of Engineers and the site subcontractor regarding safety and health issues.  Provided contractor oversight for remediation activities, abrasive blasting and painting activities, and hazardous waste management and disposal operations.  Contaminants of concern included lead, PCBs, and dioxins.


 


Site Safety Manager, Pownal USEPA Superfund Project - Responsible for managing all Safety and Health activities during remediation, demolition and construction activities for a $7 million US EPA Superfund Project.  Assisted in development of the Site Safety and Health, Asbestos Abatement, and Air Monitoring Programs.  Conducted site inspections, incident investigations, training, air monitoring, recordkeeping, medical surveillance, respiratory protection and fit testing.  Directly interfaced with the Army Corp of Engineers and site subcontractors regarding safety and health issues.  Provided contractor oversight for asbestos abatement activities, confined space activities, UST removal, building demolition, landfill cap construction, building construction, hazardous waste operations, and site work.  Conducted QC functions to ensure compliance with Army Corp requirements.  Assisted in site sampling efforts for initial analysis and confirmation.  Assisted in soil sampling and testing efforts.  Contaminants of concern included asbestos, PCBs and dioxins various mixed hazardous wastes.


 


Safety Consultant (Part-time), General Electric, Lynn, Massachusetts - Consulted a for a GE jet engine manufacturing facility regarding development of plant-wide Job Hazard  Assessments (JHA) for all work processes and detailed reviews of specific high-hazard areas.


 


Site Safety Manager (Part-time), USEPA Superfund, Raymark Project - Responsible for providing part-time management for all Safety and Health efforts during remediation activities for a USEPA Superfund Removal Action Project at Shore Road and the Housatonic Boat Club in Stratford, CT.  Developed the Site Safety and Health, and air monitoring programs.  Conducted site inspections, incident investigations, training, air monitoring (personal and perimeter), recordkeeping, medical surveillance, respiratory protection and fit testing.  Directly interfaced with the Army Corp of Engineers and site subcontractors regarding safety and health issues.  Provided contractor oversight for contaminant remediation activities, construction, demolition, hazardous waste operations, and site work.  Contaminants of concern included lead, asbestos, PCBs and dioxins. 


 


Site Safety Manager, Connecticut Yankee Nuclear Plant - Responsible for Site Safety and Health compliance for Stone & Webster Site personnel at Connecticut Yankee Nuclear Plant.  Conducted daily site safety inspections, Safety & Health training and recordkeeping.  Developed activity-specific safety plans and interfaced directly with the owner regarding safety and health issues.


 


Senior Safety Supervisor, Corporate Office - Responsible for special projects related to the administration of the Corporate Safety, Health and Environment Programs for Stone & Webster worldwide. Managed research, development and production for various federal grants inclusive of a $205,000 grant to develop lead hazard awareness training in support of a new OSHA standard.  Through a cooperative effort with the OSHA, developed supplemental lead safety training materials for OSHA compliance personnel.  Supported the Council's education and outreach efforts to its member firms. Developed various computer databases to support research and training development.
