The College of Science and Technology is one of five degree-granting colleges with over 400 faculty and staff members educating more than 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students. External funding for the college is $38 million. The college consists of the Schools of Computing, Construction, Criminal Justice, and Polymers and High Performance Materials; the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Coastal Sciences, Geography and Geology, Human Capital Development, Marine Science, Mathematics, and Physics and Astronomy; the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory; and the Center for Science and Mathematics Education. Traditional classes are offered on campuses in Hattiesburg and on the Gulf Coast.

The School of Construction is a multidisciplinary unit with faculty and students located at teaching sites in Hattiesburg and Long Beach. The School offers ETAC-ABET and ACCE accredited B.S. degree programs in Construction Engineering Technology; ETAC-ABET accredited B.S. degree programs in Architectural Engineering Technology and Industrial Engineering Technology as well as CIDA and NKBA accredited B.S. degree program in Interior Design. The School also offers the M.S. degree in Logistics, Trade and Transportation. The School currently comprises 12 full-time faculty, 25 graduate students, and 437 undergraduate majors. Faculty research interests include virtual design and construction, construction law, construction management, LEED, sustainable design and construction, logistics, and transportation.
