How necessary are psychological tests or assessment tests to a new hire?

There is controversy surrounding the idea of testing as a screening tool in hiring a new executive. Although most construction employers prior to hiring an executive conduct some form of psychological testing, testing is not a complete science, and should not be used as the sole determinant in hiring.
